Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Discusses with the Minister of Planning Strengthening Women’s Empowerment and Integrating Women’s Issues into Development Plans

Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahd Jaasous, discussed with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed Al-Faqmi ways to strengthen women’s empowerment, integrate women’s issues into development plans, and expand women’s participation in government institutions.

Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahd Jaasous, discussed today in the interim capital, Aden, with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed Al-Faqmi, ways to strengthen women’s empowerment and integrate women’s issues into development plans and programs, with the aim of expanding women’s participation in government institutions and various development processes.

The meeting addressed programs and grants funded by donor funds and organizations to support women and youth, as well as mechanisms for ensuring the equitable distribution of opportunities in a manner that contributes to enhancing women’s representation in decision-making positions and government institutions. The two sides also discussed humanitarian and development response plans and the importance of involving women throughout the planning and implementation stages, recognizing them as key partners in programs supported by the United Nations and the European Union.

The two sides also reviewed priorities related to women and girls, capacity-building and training programs targeting female staff in ministries and government institutions, as well as humanitarian response programs implemented by international organizations, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Dr. Ahd Jaasous emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership and coordination between government entities and donors to ensure that the needs of women and girls are integrated into national policies and plans, and to expand opportunities for their participation in sustainable development.

For his part, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed Al-Faqmi affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting women’s issues and working to strengthen projects and programs aimed at their economic and social empowerment, as well as integrating their needs into development plans and recovery and reconstruction programs for the period 2027–2029.
