Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahd Jaasous, discussed today in the interim capital, Aden, with the “Southern Women for Peace” group a number of issues concerning the situation of women and ways to strengthen their role across various sectors, while supporting their access to decision-making positions and leadership roles in government and public service institutions.
The meeting reviewed the challenges facing women, as well as efforts to strengthen their participation in public life and mechanisms to support political, economic, and social empowerment programs, in a manner that contributes to expanding women’s presence in state institutions and making use of their capacities and expertise in the development process.
Dr. Jaasous emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among government institutions, civil society organizations, and women’s networks to support women’s issues and enhance their active participation across various sectors. She also stressed the need to provide a supportive environment that ensures women have equal opportunities to access leadership and administrative positions.
During the meeting, Chairperson of the “Southern Women for Peace” group, Ms. Radhiya Shamsheer, presented an overview of the group’s key activities and initiatives in supporting women and promoting their participation in peacebuilding and development. The participants emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of State for Women’s Affairs in support of women’s issues and to strengthen women’s presence in positions of influence and decision-making.
