French Ambassador Reaffirms Support for Women’s Return to Government

The ministers of Legal Affairs and Women’s Affairs discussed stronger cooperation and support for government programmes with France’s Ambassador to Yemen, who reaffirmed her country’s support for women’s participation in decision-making.

Minister of Legal Affairs Judge Ishraq Al-Muqtari and Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Dr Ahd Jaasous met with France’s Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, and her deputy to discuss stronger cooperation and support for Yemeni government programmes.

The ambassador congratulated the two ministers on receiving the political leadership’s confidence. She described women’s return to government as a deserved step and reaffirmed France’s support for increasing women’s presence in decision-making positions.

The meeting discussed coordination mechanisms to support ministries led by women, and the ambassador expressed her country’s readiness to assist government programmes and projects.

The two ministers welcomed France’s support for women’s issues, human rights and the rule of law, and expressed their interest in strengthening the partnership and benefiting from international expertise.
