Al-Alimi: Women’s Return to Government Is a National Imperative for Restoring State Institutions

Presidential Leadership Council member Abdullah Al-Alimi discussed government priorities with the ministers of Legal Affairs and Women’s Affairs, describing women’s return to government as due recognition of their national role and an opportunity to strengthen the rule of law and restore effective state institutions.

Presidential Leadership Council member Dr Abdullah Al-Alimi met on Thursday, 12 February 2026, with Minister of Legal Affairs Judge Ishraq Al-Muqtari and Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Dr Ahd Jaasous to discuss the two ministries’ priorities and ways to strengthen government institutions during the current period.

Al-Alimi congratulated the two ministers on receiving the leadership’s confidence. He said restoring women’s representation in the government recognizes the efforts of Yemeni women and acknowledges their central role in building the state.

He stressed that the Presidential Leadership Council is counting on qualified women to uphold the highest standards of discipline in government work. He described the current period as an opportunity to restore state institutions and make serious progress toward enforcing the rule of law.

He called for the appointment to be used to restore recognition of qualified women across government, and for the creation of a broad, comprehensive database that serves women and lays the groundwork for their further empowerment.

Al-Muqtari and Jaasous expressed their appreciation for the Council’s support, saying Al-Alimi’s guidance provided a roadmap for the women ministers’ work in the coming period.
